I hope you enjoy reading through some facts about wind power. Did you know that the wind is very capable of creating high levels of energy which is then converted into electricity? This energy is known as wind energy, and windmills are also known as wind generators or wind turbines.

To explain very briefly the principles behind wind turbines, the wind rotates two to three propellor blades which are connected with a rotor. This rotor is joined to the main shaft, this shaft then spins the generator and voila we now have electricity as a result.

The higher the wind shaft the better, usually this wind shaft is mounted onto a high tower. You can get maximum benefits from your wind turbine if your tower is at least 100 feet from the ground. This will enable the wind to be captured through the propellers. Taking advantage of the higher wind which is faster and less turbulent than the wind which is nearer to the ground.

Wind energy seems to be one of the best ways of producing energy for our homes these days, having your own wind turbine would also save you $1000's in electricity bills, how can you turn away from that.

Once you have decided to install or build your own wind turbine the energy which is produced from this is completely free. Facts say that wind energy has been around for a long long time, used in ships for sailing and did you know that wind power can also be converted to mechanical power which can be used for pumping water or even grinding grains. But the most popular use of wind energy today is of course to produce electrical energy.

Wind farms use enormous wind turbines to feed energy into the electrical grids. Remote areas use smaller turbines to create energy. Household owners all over the world especially in most western countries are producing energy for their own needs and any surplus energy they produce from their wind generator can be sold.

It is said that energy which is generated through wind, is easily distributed. The energy is clean and it doesn't create emissions which are harmful to the environment either. Renewable energy is the way of the future, environmentalists have seen great qualities in wind power, they see wind power as an alternative source of energy which has a positive effect on the environment.

Countries such as Denmark, Spain and the United States have amplified more wind power energy production enormously. Wind power generated 120.8 gigawatts of energy in 2008. In a single year the U.S increased 45% of their energy production, because of the benefits of wind power.

Wind Turbines over the past few years have developed in technology and design dramatically. Ancient wind turbines didn't utilize wind power as well and as efficiently as they do today. Wind power in the future at home is going to be huge, it still is the most cost effective natural source of renewable energy today.
