Renewable Energy is a concept that seems to be getting more and more popular every day. There are various reasons for this, as more and more individuals are choosing to use alternative energy sources at their homes. However, the concept of renewable energy is a large concept and thus it should be discussed in further detail. Of course, the pros of alternative energy sources outweigh the cons considerably, yet everyone should be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy.

Advantages:

- You are able to use a green form of energy as the environment impact will be minimized. This is important as it will allow you to contribute to a more friendly environment.
- Most importantly, using renewable energy is a great way to fight against global warming as fossil fuels are one of the greatest contributors to global warming.
- Another important thing is that major portion of renewable energy is pollution free and this is a good way to contribute to a healthy environment.
- Renewable energy can be replenished. Thus no matter how much power that you use, you will be able to replenish it easily. For example, sources such as the sun or the wind can not be depleted until the end of time.

Disadvantages:

- The initial costs of these types of energy are much more higher than conventional forms of energy production.
- Most forms of these energy plants will not take care of their costs until 10 to 15 years.
- The geographical location of the renewable energy plant matters. For example, not all areas have enough wind to sustain a wind farm or the geothermal energy can not be used in all geographical areas.
- The efficiency of energy conversion to electricity is generally very low. For example, in the case of solar converters, the efficiency of converting sunlight photons into electricity is around %15.

In any case, using renewable energy is a good policy for our future as in the long run it will help save our environment and it will be preparing us for the times when the fossil fuels will diminish completely. Every concerned citizen should take part in the process of using replenishable energy in their daily lives.
