Renewable energy has received much global press from politicians and scientists alike. While we are constantly being informed that renewable energy is the way forward to save our planet and to help us reduce our domestic bills, what really are the solar power benefits and the wind power advantages that can encourage us to do our bit.
Solar power benefits are vast and can be economical. As the technology improves month on month, so the solar power benefits become greater and greater. The cost of implementing solar power at a domestic level has decreased dramatically, especially now that there are many government incentives and grants that can be obtained and manufacturers realise that it is at the domestic level where the technology can be used to the best effect. Solar panels can be small and cheap, for simply lighting one bulb in a garden shed, or multiple panels can be used to provide heating and electricity throughout a whole house. This will reduce your household bills at present, but as the technology is increasingly developed over the next few years it is widely expected that the solar power benefits will increase to a level where we can all enjoy 'bill free' households.
Wind power can also be harnessed for many advantages. Obviously, at its most basic it can be used to power a mill, as seen for hundreds of years but with technology advancing all the time, as with solar power, smaller domestic sized wind turbines are being used to generate wind electricity to decrease domestic bills by up to a third.
If the general public were to be better informed of the wind power advantages and solar power benefits and this were to be coupled with a real monetary savings for the average person such as myself, then perhaps the willingness to embrace solar energy and wind energy into our homes would increase to a level where the planets health would be effected for the greater good.
