Preserving the planet as well as lowering expenses is forefront in many people's minds. Saving money on electricity using off grid power system is one way to achieve this goal. High costs as well as increased pollutants in the air are causing everyone to think creatively and, if researched in detail, one will find that it is easier than ever.

The dream of many people is to be able to completely eliminate reliance on power companies and do what is called “going off grid”. In this instance, users generate enough power for their own needs and, in the end, owe no one else for that use. This can be accomplished in many ways. For others, the convenience of the power company combined with lower bills is preferred. Regardless of preference, equipment is available that can have a significant impact on energy expenses.

Perhaps one of the best known off grid systems is solar power. It relies on direct sunlight so is preferred by those living in sunny climes. Those who install this system find themselves completely independent of the power company and, as a result, never receive a bill again. Although there are many advantages, like having lights when the rest of the city is blacked out, the disadvantage is that there is no backup system. If the solar panels go down, there is no recourse.

A magnetic power generator is another option that is becoming more popular. This perpetual motion machine can be used on grid or off. With an on grid system, one is still tied to the electric company and any power generated is sent directly to that agency rather than for use by the customer. However, in exchange, users are credited for the amount of power sent and, therefore, have much lower energy bills.

When used off grid, magnetic power generators use perpetual motion to keep working, and then feed the excess power generated directly into the home. Regardless of what is happening in the rest of the neighbourhood, the lights in this house will keep running. It is, however, a little more expensive initially, but will allow the homeowners to keep going, regardless of the weather or conditions, without making another payment to the electric company.

Another alternative that has become highly popular is called a hybrid system. This is an alternative way of saving money on electricity using off grid power system that utilizes multiple forms. For example, wind turbines might be combined with solar power, magnetic power generators, and/or gas generators to ensure that, regardless of the emergency, power will be sustained. Energy consumption no longer has to "break the bank" and all consumers need to do is to commit to utilizing an alternative form of power.
