I'll admit it, I've had some financial struggles over the last couple of years. I'm just starting to get things under control and don't need any unexpected expenses such as ridiculous energy costs. That's the reason I've decided to build my own wind turbine.
I know that may sound over the top, but after looking into it a little bit, I've found that it's really easy to do, it won't cost me much, and the savings can be huge.
I've found that due to advances in technology even a smaller, home size turbine can generate some serious amounts of electricity which means it makes sense for me to install one.
I can install it on my roof, or just in my backyard. As long as it's in the open where it can get the wind and it isn't obstructed, it will work fine.
I was wondering if I should just buy one but I realize that I can't, it's too much money to buy one. I can build my own for less that $250 so it makes more sense to take that route. After all, I'll recoup my investment in a month or two on the energy I save.
I decided a turbine makes more sense than a solar panel since it can work at night, as long as there is wind, and it generates about 5 times more electricity than one solar panel.
I might even add another turbine sometime in the future. I would like to be able to kiss my utility company goodbye forever and I know one turbine won't be enough for me to do that.
For now, though, I'll stick with one and save hundreds of dollars on my utility bills which is a good start.
So, that's my project for this weekend, build my own wind turbine. With the small investment, the large savings, and the ease of the project, it just makes sense to go for it.
